This page sets out the tradie platform privacy Australia standards that BuilderApp.au upholds when handling your personal information. BuilderApp.au (“BuilderApp”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of every homeowner and tradesperson who uses our platform at builderapp.au.

We operate in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using BuilderApp.au, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information necessary to provide our services effectively.

Information you provide directly:

• Full name, email address, phone number and residential or business address
• Trade licence details, ABN, and insurance information (for tradies)
• Job descriptions, photos, and project details (for homeowners)
• Payment information processed securely via third-party payment providers
• Profile photos and portfolio images
• Reviews and ratings you submit

Information collected automatically:

• IP address, browser type, and device information
• Pages visited, time spent on site, and clickstream data
• Location data (with your permission)
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

• Create and manage your BuilderApp account
• Connect homeowners with tradies based on location and trade category
• Process job postings, quotes, and bookings
• Verify tradie licences, ABNs, and credentials
• Send transactional emails, job alerts, and platform notifications
• Improve platform features and user experience
• Comply with our legal obligations under Australian law
• Respond to enquiries, complaints, and support requests

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Marketing communications
With your consent, we may send you marketing communications about BuilderApp features, promotions, or partner offers. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” in any marketing email or by contacting [email protected]. This does not affect transactional emails (booking confirmations, account notices, job alerts), which are necessary for the service and cannot be opted out of while your account is active. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 in sending commercial electronic messages.

4. Sharing Your Information

Between users: When a homeowner posts a job, relevant profile information is shared with matched tradies. When a tradie submits a quote, their profile details become visible to the homeowner.

Service providers: We engage third-party providers for payment processing, email delivery, analytics, and hosting. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and may only use your data to perform services on our behalf.

Legal requirements: We may disclose your information where required by law, court order, or regulatory authority in Australia.

Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred accordingly. You will be notified before this occurs.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we engage store or process personal information outside Australia. This means your personal information may be disclosed to recipients located in:

• United States — cloud hosting and content delivery, email delivery, error monitoring, and product analytics

Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps as required by Australian Privacy Principle 8 to ensure that the recipient handles your information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. This includes entering into contractual data protection commitments with each provider.

Payment card details are transmitted directly to our payment processor and are not stored on BuilderApp systems.

5. Cookies

BuilderApp.au uses cookies to:

How to make a request

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with the words “Privacy Request” in the subject line, and tell us which right you wish to exercise.

• Identity verification: So that we do not disclose your information to the wrong person, we will ask you to verify your identity before we act on a request. We will only ask for information reasonably necessary to do this.
• Timeframe: We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and respond within 30 days of receiving it. If your request is complex and we need more time, we will tell you before the 30 days expire and explain why.
• Cost: There is no charge for making a request. We do not charge for correcting your information. In limited circumstances a reasonable charge may apply for giving you access — we will tell you the amount before proceeding, and you may withdraw your request.
• If we refuse: Where the Privacy Act permits us to refuse access or correction, we will write to you setting out our reasons and how you may complain. Where we refuse to correct information, you may ask us to attach a statement to the record noting that you consider it inaccurate, and we will take reasonable steps to do so.
• Third-party notification: If we correct information we have already disclosed to another organisation, we will notify that organisation on your request, unless it is impracticable or unlawful to do so.
